PM: Azerbaijan to host significant cultural, sporting events within CIS in 2025

Azerbaijan has planned significant cultural and sporting events within the CIS for 2025, Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting in Moscow on December 12, Report informs.

He stated that Azerbaijan is actively preparing for these events.

"We attach great importance to cooperation within the interstate program 'Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth.' As known, according to the Council of Heads of State's decision on October 8 this year, the city of Lachin of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been declared the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth for 2025," said the prime minister.

He noted that Azerbaijan will also host the III CIS Games next year.

"The city of Ganja will become the Sports Capital of the Commonwealth. We are confident that granting the status of sports capital will help reveal the city's sporting potential and create favorable conditions for sports tourism development," the prime minister added.

Asadov emphasized that close interaction between CIS prime ministers "allows solving all tasks set before us in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding."

"Today's meeting agenda includes about 20 issues in various areas of cooperation, including economic, transport and humanitarian spheres, as well as financial and budgetary matters related to the Commonwealth's activities. During the meeting, we plan to approve the Priority Action Plan in humanitarian cooperation for 2025-2026, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on deepening the humanitarian component of our interaction," said the prime minister of Azerbaijan.
