Peruvian press on Armenia's latest military provocation

La Republica, one of Peru's leading media outlets, published an interview with Azerbaijan's ambassador to this country Mammad Talibov about Armenia's recent military provocations, Report informs, citing the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Mexico.

In the interview, information was given about the large-scale military provocations committed by the armed forces of Armenia in different directions of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border on the night of September 12-13: "This is the continuation of the series of military provocations carried out by the armed forces of Armenia in the last two months and is a gross violation of the tripartite statement dated November 10, 2020."

The interview stated that as a result of the intensive firing on the positions of the Azerbaijan Army, there were losses among the personnel of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, and serious damage was caused to the military infrastructure.

The article also mentions that ignoring the Tripartite Declaration signed between the parties in 2020, Armenia does not withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, carrying out large-scale acts of sabotage and terrorism by mining our lands, thereby grossly violating the provisions of humanitarian law. Such aggressive activities of Armenia aim to slow down the normalization of relations in the region.

During the interview, Talibov talked about the history of the past conflict, the results of the 44-day Patriotic War, when Azerbaijan liberated its territories from the 30-year Armenian occupation under the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the destruction, looting, and mass mining of our lands.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is not interested in military escalation in the region and is always in favor of a peaceful resolution of the conflict within the framework of international legal norms, and noted that Azerbaijan calls Armenia to respect international law, the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.

The interview also talked about the large-scale restoration works carried out by the country's leadership in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including the delimitation and demarcation of the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the opening of regional communications, and the constructive steps taken in the direction of signing a peace treaty.

In the end, the ambassador emphasized that the next aggression of the Armenian side against Azerbaijan is entirely contrary to the ongoing normalization and peace process and also poses a threat to security and stability in the Caucasus region.
