The exchange of detained servicemen can be considered ‘zero point’ in relations between Yerevan and Baku, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at a ministerial meeting of landlocked developing countries, Report informs referring to Sputnik-Armenia.
“From it, we can at least try to make efforts to ensure that all subsequent news increases the likelihood of concluding a [peace] treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan noted.
The exchange of military personnel took place on December 13 at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Earlier, Yerevan and Baku issued a joint statement by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, which stated that an agreement had been reached on the release of 32 people of Armenian origin by Azerbaijan, and two Azerbaijani servicemen by Armenia.
