"Azerbaijan’s membership in the Council of Europe is an important element of unity. Therefore, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe in Baku as well," President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier said at the opening of the conference devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe entitled “Our rights, our freedoms, our Europe” in Baku.
The PACE President noted the importance of implementing the Convention on Human Rights at the national level by the countries of the Council of Europe, adding that the conference held in Baku today is a good platform for discussing these issues.
She also thanked the Azerbaijani government for cooperation, noting that during her visit she had already held a number of official meetings, including with parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov.
