OTS leaders reaffirm readiness to contribute to post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan

The heads of state and government who took part in the IX Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have confirmed their readiness to contribute to the post-conflict reconstruction, rehabilitation and reintegration efforts in Azerbaijan, reads the Samarkand Declaration, signed following the IX Summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Uzbekistan, Report informs.

The parties agreed to continue regular consultations on security between the governments of the member states and state institutions within the Organization of Turkic States to ensure close coordination and cooperation on security issues of common interest, and called for closer cooperation in the defense industry and the military sphere.

The heads of state and government also expressed interest in the early opening of the Zangazur corridor, increasing the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, expanding transport links between Europe and Asia and building the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China and Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar”, which contribute to the diversification of transport links.

Participants of the organization’s IX summit congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chairman of the People’s Council of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on being awarded the highest order of the Turkic world.

On November 11, the IX OTS summit was held in the Uzbek city of Samarkand. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the event.
