As a result of the successful foreign policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan plays an important unifying role in the Turkic world, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Gismat Gozalov told Report.
He was commenting on the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Kyrgyzstan.
He noted that the victory gained in the 44-day Karabakh war and the solidarity shown by the Turkic world, especially Turkiye, served to strengthen the spirit of unity between the fraternal countries.
“Azerbaijan’s contribution as a founding member of the Organization of Turkic States to the integration of the Turkic world is undeniable. As part of the Organization of Turkic States, relations with the Turkic states of Central Asia have recently reached the highest level,” he said, adding that the signing in June of 2021 of the Shusha Declaration, which “raised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Turkiye to the highest level and set an example for the entire Turkic world.”
The deputy secretary general noted that bilateral meetings, supplemented by mutual visits of heads of state, make a great contribution to cooperation within the OTS. In this regard, he noted the current visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Kyrgyzstan.
In his opinion, the development of extremely successful bilateral relations stimulated the creation of trilateral mechanisms between countries and led to the establishment of formats for trilateral cooperation Azerbaijan-Turkiye-Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan-Turkiye-Kazakhstan at the ministerial level.
“All of the above shows that Azerbaijan plays a strategic, unifying role in the Turkic world as a result of the successful foreign policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev,” Gismet Gozalov summed up.
