NGO President from Kenya: Armenian side's claims on Lachin road are groundless

The claims of a number of Armenian officials who speculate on the issue of the Lachin road and use it for political manipulations are completely unfounded, said Eliud Emery, President of Grassroots Organizations in Kenya (CGoK), Report informs.

He noted that Azerbaijan is a multi-ethnic state where equal opportunities have been created for all national minorities, including Armenians living in the country: "They can live and work together with civilians."

Emery added that the Lachin road is in the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, and the decision of the International Court of Justice on July 6 confirms this once again. In other words, it is Azerbaijan's sovereign right to establish a checkpoint on the border.

"The proposal to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road to meet the needs of Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan was highly appreciated by international organizations. The President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel, also recently expressed his support for the use of the Aghdam-Khankandi road. The International Committee of the Red Cross is also ready to use this reliable and affordable way for humanitarian aid," he said.

In his opinion, the international community should know that Azerbaijan not only does not create a blockade but, on the contrary, offers assistance: "Armenia is a country that has blockaded Nakhchivan for more than 30 years and prevented direct communication with other territories of Azerbaijan."
