Muhammad Sohail: Pakistan might contribute to demining Azerbaijan’s liberated lands

Mutual visits between Azerbaijan and Pakistan will open new doors for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as trade, economy, energy, and environment, Muhammad Sohail Sajid, the head of the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Office in Pakistan, told Report.

Sohail Sajid noted that there is a remarkable growth in cooperation between the two countries:

“We are brotherly countries and our relations have been developing rapidly in recent years. When we analyze the trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, we see that there is a remarkable increase. Over 30 documents have been signed between the two countries since the independence of Azerbaijan. I believe that mutual visits will open new doors for cooperation in trade, economy, energy, and environment sectors.”

The official also highlighted that relations between states are more important than business ties.

“Especially after the launch of direct flights between Baku and Islamabad, the relations between the two nations have improved, and I hope this cooperation will increase further. I hope that we will increase the trade turnover soon,” he said.

Speaking about the possible contributions of Pakistani companies interested in today's restoration and reconstruction work in Azerbaijan's liberated territories polluted by landmines during the 30-year Armenian occupation, Sohail Sajid stated that he hopes that the application of Pakistani companies will be accepted and they will support this process.

"I have participated in some conferences on violations of the rights of Western Azerbaijanis. I know that these issues are very important. Liberation of territories from occupation is a great event and opportunity. We know very well that those areas have been destroyed and polluted with landmines. The proposals put forward by Azerbaijan regarding those areas are really commendable. I know you are creating good opportunities even for very small investors,” he added.

As for the mutual support betwen Azerbaijan and Pakistan within the framework of international organizations, the official underlined that there is regional instability in the areas where the countries are located:

"I am aware that there are many agreements between Azerbaijan and the EU countries. This brings great opportunities to interstate relations. Azerbaijan is a brotherly country and we can establish new ties based on it.
