Baku. 29 January. REPORT.AZ/ "The fact that some European institutions, which show aggressive approach to any issue regarding Azerbaijan, demonstrate a soft attitude to the hunger strike staged by deputy chairman of the 'Armenian eagles-Single Armenia' party Mger Yegiazaryan and his consequent death in the Nubarashen prison where he had been held, with some of them remaining silent on this issue, is a clear manifestation of double standards," chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Construction Ali Huseynli told Report.
Noting that the tougher stance taken by European structures on Azerbaijan a few days ago in comparison to what they say on the incident in Armenia now clearly shows their bias, the committee chairman said the European Parliament already challenged the seriousness of their recent resolution by basing it on the thoughts of a group of people in Azerbaijan who call themselves the 'opposition': "The fact that, following the indicated resolution, some in the European Parliament remained silent on the hunger strike and the consequent death of the opposition party official in Armenia shows that they have a different intention on Azerbaijan. That intention forms under the influence of the Armenian lobby interests."
As to Huseynli, the European Parliament and other institutions that turned the biased information sent by some people from Azerbaijan into a resolution are funded and guided by the Armenian lobby circles: "The fact that Azerbaijan has its say on the global arena owing to the balanced and successful policy conducted by President Ilham Aliyev cannot but irritate the Armenian lobby. These concerns are reflected in the issues I have indicated above. Unfortunately, they make use of the oppositional group inside the country, whose recent attempts to stage a protest and turn it into a show was the continuation of the same scenario. But no one can ever break the unity between the state and the people in Azerbaijan. These forces simply have put themselves into another awkward position. It is impossible to win the electorate by exaggerating any insignificant issue. This is just an attempt to fulfill their order from abroad by creating chaos, the chaos that will never be allowed in the country."
