Following the anti-Azerbaijan call adopted in the lower house of the Swiss parliament, the European Parliament continues its attempts to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs by adopting a resolution full of baseless allegations, Azer Badamov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, said this during his speech at today's plenary session of parliament, Report informs.
Badamov noted that the main concern for the West, which has fallen under the influence of France and the Armenian lobby, is Azerbaijan's ensuring sovereignty over its territories, pursuing independent policy, and successfully hosting major international events like COP29:
"If there was a little justice in the European Parliament, they would first talk about the dictatorial activities of France located in the center of Europe, the Macron administration's neo-colonialism policy in the 21st century, and the gross violation of fundamental rights of people living in island states. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen."
He believes that Western unjust policies are leading the world to destruction:
"At a time when the West continues its attempts of political pressure against Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan was accepted as a member of the Economic Cooperation Organization at the Summit held in Cairo. Our membership in this organization, which unites 60% of world Muslims, that is 1.1 billion people representing 15% of the world population with a GDP of $4 trillion, will bring new opportunities to Azerbaijan."
Badamov noted that by joining this organization, Azerbaijan will contribute to strengthening Islamic solidarity and expanding cooperation in energy, agriculture, transport, logistics, and technology:
"Becoming a member of D8 will provide a platform aligned with Azerbaijan's economic and strategic interests and will enable our country to have a broader sphere of influence in the international arena."
