Moscow bids farewell to Abdurrahman Vazirov

A farewell ceremony is being held at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow for the former first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Azerbaijani SSR, Abdurrahman Vazirov, who died at the age of 92.

Report's Russian bureau informs that relatives and members of Vazirov's family, including his son Eldar Vazirov, spoke at the farewell ceremony.

Further, verses from the Koran were read out.

Abdurrahman Vazirov during his lifetime wanted to be buried next to his wife Irina Vazirova.

Vazirov was born in 1930 in Baku’s Binagadi District. He headed the Azerbaijan SSR from 1988 to 1990. After the January 20, 1990 events in Baku, he moved to Russia and lived there for the rest of his life.
