The 8th panel session themed ‘Bridging Horizons: Silk Road's modern dynamics and global impact’ is held on the second day of the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, Report informs.
The event is moderated by Nazim Samadov, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Morocco, permanent representative of Azerbaijan to ICESCO.
Before the start of the panel, the diplomat gave a brief information about the essence of the event. He said that the Silk Road is an ancient trade route that ensured the passage of civilizations between the West and the East.
"Diplomatic opportunities have been created for conflict resolution through the Silk Road. This has had a serious impact on the distribution of resources."
Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, who gave an opening speech at the panel, first thanked ICESCO: "This platform allows us to determine the activity on the great Silk Road. Today we are at the intersection of history and heritage. When we talk about the main role of the Silk Road, it is necessary to define the role of Azerbaijan here. Our country was located at the center of the trade road. Today, the Silk Road is being given a new lease of life and here Protection of cultural heritage is an important issue. Azerbaijan works very closely on various projects implemented by UNESCO. The role of the Silk Road in culture is important."
