This year is special for cooperation between UN and Azerbaijan as 30 years ago Azerbaijan joined the UN and the organization opened its office in Baku, UN Resident Coordinator Vladanka Andreeva told the opening of the Model UN Conference at ADA University.
Report quotes her as saying the three-day conference brings together nearly 85 students from various universities.
She said that during the next three days, the participants in the event will discuss the resolution of the various problems which are of utmost importance for the world today and which affect the lives of ordinary people.
Andreeva reminded that millions of people around the world are either starving or are in conflict zones, which, she said, hinders further global development.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also attended the conference opening.
