Minsk hosts meeting of CIS Council of Heads of Government 

The Belarus capital of Minsk hosted a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government on May 28, which was chaired by Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Report informs, citing the CIS Executive Committee’s website.

Delegations from all CIS countries, except Ukraine, attended the meeting. Azerbaijan was represented by Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

The heads of delegations exchanged views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the CIS, taking into account the epidemiological situation in the CIS countries and the world. Reports were also heard at the meeting.

During the meeting, a number of documents were signed by the heads of delegations without discussion. These documents particularly envisage regulation of the prevention of the use of counterfeit trademarks and geographical indications, the prevention and control of foot-and-mouth disease, as well as the interaction in the fields of geodesy, cartography, cadaster, and remote sensing.

The Concept of Cooperation of public authorities (executive authorities) in the CIS member states until 2030 and the Main Action Plan for its implementation were approved at the meeting.

The heads of government also signed decisions on staff appointments. Leonid Anfimov has been appointed First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Beketjan Jumakhanov, Ilkhom Nematov, and Denis Trefilov have been appointed Deputy Chairmen of the CIS Executive Committee.

Vladimir Sokolin has been appointed chairman of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS for a year.

At the suggestion of the Kyrgyz Republic, it was decided to hold the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government on November 12, 2021, in Bishkek.
