Minister: UK funding energy efficiency in conflict-affected areas such as Ganja and Barda

"We must take action now to protect our climate. I have been told that the weather in Azerbaijan can get unbearably hot in summer these days. Climate change threatens us all with hotter, drier, more violent summers and wetter, colder more extreme winters", UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Minister for European Neighborhood Wendy Morton told Report during her visit to Azerbaijan, commenting the cooperation between the countries in "green energy" and in the development of the use of renewable energy.

"The UK is leading the response to climate change. The COP26 conference in Glasgow in December is a key moment. I hope that Azerbaijan will join us in showing regional leadership on this issue and announce a deeper, faster reduction in carbon emissions.

The UK is ready to help support that process. We are funding energy efficiency in conflict-affected areas such as Ganja and Barda. BP and other British energy firms are ready to help Azerbaijan switch to renewables, like wind power", - the Minister said.
