Minister: Tokyo's position on Karabakh is very important to Baku

Japan is the major investor in Azerbaijan's energy sector, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev said at an event on the occasion of the coronation of the emperor of Japan.

"Mutual political trust has opened up opportunities for developing cooperation between Baku and Tokyo. Azerbaijan and Japan have always contributed to peace and security issues. The position of Japan on the Karabakh conflict is of great importance to us," Babayev said.

According to him, there is a great potential for cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and an increase in trade.

"Cooperation is successfully developing in various areas, using Japanese technology in a number of areas. We attach importance to cooperation in ICT, agroindustrial complex and other areas. Japan is the major investor in the energy sector of Azerbaijan," the minister said, adding that Japan has always supported Azerbaijan with various projects in the field of tourism, culture and education.

Babayev noted that Japan also supports Azerbaijani refugees affected by the Armenian aggression.
