Minister: COP - opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate its climate change agenda

The Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) is one of the biggest climate-related events. This is a great chance for Azerbaijan and the region as a whole, an opportunity for Azerbaijan to demonstrate its agenda in this regard, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev told journalists, according to a Report correspondent from Dubai.

The minister reminded that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is the initiator of such initiatives in the country as the creation of “green” energy corridors, “green” zones, new “green” technologies and the implementation of “green” projects in liberated territories.

“We have something to say, we have something to demonstrate to the world. All those projects that were launched in Azerbaijan and the strategic documents that were signed by the country’s leadership, which were adopted by the state for the near future and national priorities that were adopted until 2023 - all this gives quite a lot of fundamental reasons to move in this direction and use the ample opportunities to create a serious platform for “green” initiatives. One of the biggest areas is the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere, “green” energy, alternative energy. These processes are currently active in our country. I hope that we will be able to fulfill our commitments. There is serious work ahead,” said the minister of ecology.
