MFA: Azerbaijan assesses passage of cargo sent by Russia through Aghdam-Khankandi road as important progress

“Today, in coordination with the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, the passage of the truck of the Russian Red Cross Society (RRCS) to Khankandi through the Agdam-Khankandi road was ensured. Despite the problems and provocations committed by the so-called regime of Armenia in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, we assess the passage of cargo sent by RRCS in a coordinated manner with Azerbaijan through the Aghdam-Khankandi road as a positive step and an important progress towards the opening of this road,” the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aykhan Hajizade, told reporters while answering the question "On September 12, 2023, the passage of food and non-food products sent by RRCS was ensured through the Agdam-Khankandi road. How would you interpret this event? At the same time, what is the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the simultaneous use of the Aghdam-Khankandi and Lachin roads, which are on the agenda?" Report informs.

According to him, regarding the issue of simultaneous use of Agdam-Khankandi and Lachin roads, as Azerbaijan mentioned during high-level contacts with the United States and other partners, Azerbaijan has agreed to the issue of simultaneous use of these two roads through the ICRC. Unfortunately, it is the so-called regime created by Armenia in the Karabakh region that prevents the implementation of this agreement.

"We once again declare that the Azerbaijani side is ready to create conditions for the transportation of goods through the ICRC by following the border and customs procedures at the Lachin border checkpoint in parallel with the Aghdam-Khankandi road," the MFA official stressed.
