First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and Chairwoman, Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko took part in the opening of the pavilion “Azerbaijan” after the reconstruction at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh) in Moscow, Report informs citing the Moscow-Baku portal.
"After the restoration of the pavilion in historical form, it will be possible to represent Azerbaijan in all its splendor. This is the economy, culture, and the humanitarian sphere. It turned out very beautifully, very worthy, "- speaker of the Federation Council said at the opening.
V. Matvienko noted that relations between the two countries are developing with an upward trend and described them as "good, ponderable."
"The interest of Russians in Azerbaijan is growing, and the new pavilion at VDNKh will become an additional advertisement of the republic in Russia," she added.
It is noted that Pavilion No. 14 was built in 1939 according to the project of Sadikh Dadashev and Mikail Usseinov. Then it was called "Azerbaijan SSR". The main facade was decorated with the works of Fuad Abdurahmanov. For his "Shepherd" the sculptor-monumentalist was awarded the Stalin Prize. During documentary studies and consultations at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, preserved original plaster casts and later copies of sculptures cast in bronze were found.
In 2016, the pavilion was transferred to Azerbaijan.
