“Ukraine and Azerbaijan are friends, our peoples are friends to each other. Ukraine has always supported Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan, which is very important, has always supported Ukraine. Moreover, we have friendship between cities, and we are very proud of this,” mayor of Ukraine’s Irpin city Oleksandr Markushyn told Report.
“Ukraine is now in the same situation as Azerbaijan was before, and we also have part of the territory, which is, unfortunately, occupied. Each country wants to liberate its lands. We will fight for our territory in the same way as Azerbaijan,” said Markushyn.
He stressed that both countries support each other on the issue of territorial integrity: “Of course, we always support that the territory that was historically Ukrainian should be Ukrainian, and that the territory which was historically Azerbaijani should be Azerbaijani.”
