Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has conveyed his message to a complex audience thanks to his experience and diplomatic genius, Russian political scientist Sergei Markov said at a press conference in Baku on the speech of Ilham Aliyev at the Valdai Club in Sochi, Report informs.
"Inviting Ilham Aliyev to the Valdai Forum in Sochi is an expression of Moscow’s friendly relations with Baku," Markov said, adding that "Baku weather" was established in relations between the countries.
According to him, in Sochi, President Ilham Aliyev tried to explain the logic of the interests and actions of Azerbaijan in the context of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"I believe that this was a very important statement, one of the strongest during the forum. The academic and media community present at the forum is not well informed about the conflict itself due to the fact that it shapes views from the media that are subject to the influence of the Armenian diaspora. And in this regard, the Azerbaijani president had a difficult audience," the Russian expert added.
Markov emphasized that the UN today supports Azerbaijan's position.
"No country questions UN Security Council resolutions. It's a different matter that these resolutions are not implemented, as Ilham Aliyev spoke about," the political scientist said.
According to him, the Azerbaijani president was able to clearly and accurately state his point of view thanks to his experience and high diplomatic genius.
He pointed out that thanks to this genius, Azerbaijan today has become a venue for various international events, as well as negotiations.
"The President of Azerbaijan enjoys respect in the international arena," Markov said.
