Maka Botchorishvili: Georgia always close to Azerbaijan

Georgia is always standing with Azerbaijan, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said during a phone conversation with her Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Report informs referring to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

She expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane performing the Baku-Grozny flight near Aktau, and wished patience to the friendly Azerbaijani people. The foreign minister emphasized that Georgia stands with Azerbaijan on this tragic day.

Jeyhun Bayramov, in turn, thanked Botchorishvili for the condolences and support on this difficult day for Azerbaijan and its people.

The AZAL passenger plane performing the Baku-Grozny flight crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.

Of the 67 people on board the airliner, 38 died and 29 survived. A State Commission headed by Prime Minister Ali Asadov has been established to investigate the causes of the plane crash.

President Ilham Aliyev signed an order declaring a one-day mourning in Azerbaijan in connection with the plane crash.
