Lithuania's new Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys made a phone call to Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on December 31.
Minister Kestutis Budrys expressed his condolences over the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight He offered his sympathies for those who died in the accident and wished recovery for the injured. Minister Budrys expressed regret that his first phone call had to be about such a sad occasion and emphasized that Lithuania is ready to provide any possible support in rehabilitating the injured and investigating the causes of the tragedy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked for the condolences and solidarity shown, informing that the investigation of the plane crash causes is under direct supervision of the country's leadership and a state commission has been established for this purpose.
During the phone conversation, the ministers also discussed issues of regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation. They emphasized the importance of intensifying cooperation in connection with the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations next year.
