Letter on transfer of Armenian military to Azerbaijani lands circulated as UN official document

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov's letter to the UN Secretary-General dated March 1, 2021, regarding Armenia's attempts to deploy its troops in the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan in violation of international law and the tripartite statement of November 10, 2020, has been circulated as a document of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

In his letter, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov drew the Secretary-General's attention to Armenia's attempts to destabilize the situation in the region.

"According to credible information available to the Azerbaijani side, which is also validated by the reports of independent mass media sources, members of the armed forces of Armenia, wearing civilian dress, are transferred to the territory of Azerbaijan through the 'Lachin Corridor' in civilian trucks," the document reads while adding that the deployment of Armenian soldiers to the territory of Azerbaijan causes anger among the parents and relatives of the military personnel, who reject serving in the territory of another State.

"The deployment of armed personnel to Azerbaijani territory is a gross violation of Armenia's obligations under international law to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States," the report says.
