Lavrov: Azerbaijani, Armenian leaders may soon meet in Russia

The decision regarding a meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia is at their discretion, and Moscow is ready to fulfill its obligations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Report during his visit to New York within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The minister said that a trilateral meeting could take place in October within the framework of the CIS or BRICS summit with Russia's initiative and participation:

"If they propose, we are always ready to conduct these negotiations. It's at their discretion; if they want to meet, we are ready.

We are always ready to implement what was agreed upon with our participation in early November 2020. Over two years, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia have met three times. A trilateral working group has been created, and we have worked together on mechanisms for restoring transport and communication links, demarcation and delimitation of borders, and so on. We are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder and adhere to all the established obligations."
