Latvian MP hails economic sustainability in Azerbaijan

"The activity of Azerbaijanis in Latvia has recently increased. In general, relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan are closely linked to historical roots, strengthening the factors of integration between our people,"  Janis Urbanovic, a member of the Latvian Seimas (Parliament), and chairman of the Saskana Social Democratic Party told Report.

He noted that Azerbaijanis are already active members of Latvian society in the political process, along with public events:

"Our party has your nation's candidate in every election, including this month's elections to the Riga Duma. Besides, we have active working groups on inter-parliamentary relations, and Azerbaijan is a reliable partner for the European Union."

Urbanovich also spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic, which is currently encompassing the world.

"We follow the statistics every day. In Europe, the virus has caused many complications, both in the number of patients and economic impact. Our observations show that Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in terms of economic stability and the low number of losses due to the virus," he added.
