Latvian MP: Azerbaijan has overcome the path of exemplary development over the past 25 years

"A solid foundation of friendship is laid between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Latvia."

"The relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan are based on historical grounds and shaped by contemporary challenges. From this standpoint, statistical figures, indicating the relationship between the two countries, are rising year-on-year," Aleksandrs Kiršteins, deputy of Latvian Seym from the ruling party, told Report's European bureau.

He noted that various Azerbaijan projects are under implementation in Latvia today: "We observe a similar process in Azerbaijan. We want these dynamics to continue along the rising line."

The deputy said that Azerbaijanis operate in various fields in Latvia, and today they have individual merits in the economic and political life of Latvia: "We appreciate it and build a solid foundation of friendship between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Latvia."

According to Kiršteins, among the regional countries, particularly among the former Soviet states, Azerbaijan has passed the way of significant development.

"Azerbaijan, which gained independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union, has overcome a path of exemplary development over the past 25 years and created a civilized society based on strong traditions of tolerance," the MP said.
