Owing to Ilham Aliyev's political, military and diplomatic talents, Azerbaijan could not only prepare for war, which was inevitable, but also resist the aggressive intentions of Armenia, Igor Korotchenko, the military expert and editor-in-chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona newspaper, told Report's Russian bureau.
He said Azerbaijan is achieving new diplomatic successes owing to its president.
"In the Patriotic War of the Azerbaijani people, I especially want to note the role of the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Today he is one of the first-rate international politicians, leading figures of the modern world, owing to whom Azerbaijan is strengthening its influence, developing its economy and building a better future. It is owing to the political, military and diplomatic talents of Ilham Aliyev that Azerbaijan could not only prepare for war, which was inevitable, but also quickly resist the aggressive intentions of Armenia," Korotchenko said.
The Russian expert noted that the victory of Azerbaijan is undoubtedly a remarkable national holiday as it means an end to almost thirty years of occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.
"It is a brilliant military and political victory, the triumph of modern Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev. We remember the developments that unfolded two years ago, when, in response to the large-scale Armenian provocation, Azerbaijan unleashed a counteroffensive operation, Iron First. It was a thoroughly planned, effective operation fitting all canons of modern military art, as a result of which the enemy was crushed in just 44 days and Yerevan was obliged to sign an act of capitulation, thereby ending the senseless resistance," Korotchenko said.
According to him, all types of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, various special forces, which participated in military operations and represented certain power ministries, structures, special services of Azerbaijan, acted brilliantly in this war.
"The Shusha operation became a triumph, when the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, Shusha, was liberated with a lightning strike by the Azerbaijani special forces. The operation to liberate it went down in the history of modern military art," the military expert said.
