Korotchenko: Pashinyan has actually recognized Azerbaijan's sovereignty

Armenian soldiers' attack on the Azerbaijani service member proves that the aggressiveness of this country has not faded away, military expert and editor-in-chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona (National Defense) magazine Igor Korotchenko told Report's Russian bureau.

"Provocations continue and may take place in different places," he said.

The expert believes that the road blocking was a successful military and political step.

"Pashinyan has actually recognized the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. A certain border demarcation has taken place. It is quite clear that the Lachin corridor is functioning. Now the Zangazur transport corridor should open as one of the messages Azerbaijan is sending to Armenia," he said.

Korotchenko noted that as some sections of the Gorus-Gafan road pass via Azerbaijan, official Baku had demonstrated the need not to forget existing realities.

"Azerbaijan has demonstrated readiness to respond to any provocations and unconstructive actions of the Armenian side," the expert added.

"It is necessary to thwart such actions of the Armenian side since so far there has been no response to the logic of Baku's peace initiatives towards Yerevan," Korotchenko said.

According to him, all parties are interested in avoiding tensions.

"The logic of developments, including Azerbaijan's policy, is that Armenia should accept existing realities. Moscow is interested solely in Yerevan's complete and precise fulfillment of all provisions it assumed as part of the tripartite statements," the expert said.
