Azerbaijan received a powerful impetus for development during Heydar Aliyev's leadership, a military expert and editor-in-chief of the Natsionalnaya oborona magazine Igor Korotchenko said during the rouble table on Heydar Aliyev's role in the development of the USSR and Russia held in Moscow.
The expert noted that Baku was also famous as an international city. According to him, all hopes for a technological breakthrough of the USSR were connected precisely with Heydar Aliyev.
"Heydar Aliyev came at the most necessary and critical period for Azerbaijan and saved the country. He is an outstanding statesman who ascended the political Olympus of the USSR by virtue of his mind and outstanding personal qualities," Korotchenko said.
He noted that today President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev continues the path of national leader Heydar Aliyev with dignity.
