The upcoming COP29 Climate Summit is a testament to Azerbaijan's growing global influence, Igor Korotchenko, Director General of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies, told journalists in Moscow, Report informs.
"If we take a general look at Azerbaijan today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the country is shaping the global international agenda," Korotchenko said. "The upcoming COP29 Climate Summit is also an indicator of Azerbaijan's prestige. What he says [Ilham Aliyev] and what he does completely coincide, and this resonates with a large part of the modern world."
Korotchenko added that although Azerbaijan is a relatively small country in terms of territory, it is now among the states that determine global trends and the international agenda, thanks to the victory in the Second Karabakh War, the restoration of its sovereignty during the local anti-terror measures in 2023, as well as the implementation of large-scale global energy projects.
