Azerbaijan has distinguished itself as a nation deeply committed to supporting the sovereignty of countries in Africa and beyond, according to Kabine Doumbia, president of the non-governmental organization ASRAD.
Report informs that speaking at the international conference "French Policy of Neocolonialism in Africa," Doumbia praised the Azerbaijani government's vision and determination in bringing this critical discussion to the global stage.
"Your vision and your resolve to elevate this discourse to the international arena is crucial for our collective understanding of contemporary challenges," Doumbia emphasized. He expressed gratitude to the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and its executive director, Abbas Abbasov, for organizing the conference, stating, "I am convinced that through such discussions, we can better grasp the issues and opportunities before us, thereby paving the way for more genuine sovereignty in our nations."
Doumbia underscored the profound impact of colonization on a country's ability to comprehend life in freedom and make independent decisions. He noted that despite gaining political independence, African states continue to grapple with asserting their autonomy in the face of powerful forces, including transnational corporations, international financial institutions, former colonial powers, and emerging superpowers.
"The concept of sovereignty is being reaffirmed by globalization," Doumbia explained. "Sovereignty, which signifies a state's capacity to exercise its authority within its territory and make independent decisions, is now confronted with the complex realities of a globalized world," he said.
