Justice Ministries of Azerbaijan and Türkiye sign MoU

The Ministries of Justice of Azerbaijan and Türkiye have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in probation and penitentiary systems and to organize mutual training for their employees, Report informs.

The MoU was signed in Baku by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice, Farid Ahmadov, and Türkiye’s Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc.

During the signing ceremony, Minister Ahmadov highlighted the special significance of the relationship between the two brotherly nations, noting that their alliance is developing successfully. He emphasized the continuous expansion and development of legal cooperation between the countries.

Speaking about the work done for the implementation of the joint statement signed between the justice ministries of the two countries in May 2024, Minister Ahmadov highlighted the progress in the areas of probation system cooperation and the organization of medical services in penitentiary institutions, where significant results have been achieved.

In particular, Turkish Justice Minister referred to the “Shusha Declaration on Allied Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye,” stating that it has elevated bilateral relations and cooperation to a higher level.

Discussing the collaboration between the two countries in justice and between their justice academies, the Turkish minister stressed the importance of further strengthening ties and increasing the exchange of experience, especially between justice academies.

The meeting also covered topics such as cooperation in information technology, improving the efficiency of extradition and transfer of convicts, and other mutual interests to ensure more flexible handling of legal assistance requests.
