Jeyhun Bayramov holds meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General

On November 15, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with NATO Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoană at NATO Headquarters during his working visit to Brussels, Azerbaijani MFA told Report.

The sides exchanged views on topical issues of the NATO-Azerbaijan partnership, future development prospects, as well as regional issues.

Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the results achieved in a number of areas of the Azerbaijan-NATO partnership. He touched upon the contribution of Azerbaijan to NATO operations in the context of supporting international peace and security. The Minister informed the NATO official about the restoration and construction work carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the territories liberated as a result of the Patriotic War. It was stressed that Azerbaijan is ready to normalize relations with Armenia based on the principles of international law to eliminate the factor of occupation of the lands.

NATO praised Azerbaijan's defense reforms and contribution to NATO missions. The Deputy Secretary-General thanked Azerbaijan for its partnership with the Alliance, especially for its participation in the operation in Afghanistan.

The parties expressed readiness to continue the political dialogue and practical cooperation under the goals and principles of the Partnership for Peace.
