Jeyhun Bayramov discusses tensions on Armenia-Azerbaijan border with EU Special Representative

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar.

Report informs, citing the Foreign Ministry, that the sides exchanged views on the implementation of trilateral statements and the current situation in the region.

Klaar expressed concern over tensions on the border between the two countries.

Bayramov said that Armenia committed provocations on the border between ​​the two countries in recent days, as a result of which one Azerbaijani serviceman was killed on July 23 and two Azerbaijani servicemen were injured on July 28. The minister informed Klaar that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces respond to these military provocations and protect Azerbaijan's international borders.

It was stressed that Armenia must put an end to such irresponsible behavior and fulfill its obligations.

The minister said that Azerbaijan is not interested in border tensions and supports a diplomatic solution.

The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
