Jeyhun Bayramov discusses Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process with Russian MFA special representative

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the special representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the normalization of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations Igor Khovaev. The sides discussed the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the current situation in the region, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Bayramov emphasized that statements, rhetoric and provocations of the Armenian side, undermining the peace agenda, directed against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, undermine efforts and initiatives aimed at establishing lasting peace in the region. It was emphasized that, despite Azerbaijan’s commitment to the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Armenia’s interference in the internal affairs of Azerbaijan is unacceptable.

It was noted that Armenia’s refusal to intensify the use of the Lachin road in parallel with the opening of the Aghdam-Khankandi road against the backdrop of unfounded claims in connection with the “tense humanitarian situation” and “blockade” in the region indicates that the situation is not humanitarian, but rather political.

The importance of condemnation of such steps by the international community was emphasized, especially in the context of increasing Armenian political and military provocations against Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
