ISESCO regional office to open in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Salim bin Mohammed al-Maliki, Report informs referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Minister Bayramov noted the high level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and ISESCO.

The minister said that the government of Azerbaijan has always paid special attention to the preservation of historical, cultural, religious monuments in the country, and drew attention to the fact of the targeted destruction of the historical and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people in the territories liberated from occupation.

He spoke about the large-scale construction and restoration work in the liberated territories, including the activities for the primary inventory and protection of historical, religious and cultural monuments.

The ISESCO director-general noted that during his current visit a document will be signed on opening a regional office of the organization in Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between ISESCO and Azerbaijan, touched upon cooperation in the field of education, as well as the registration of historical and cultural monuments and other issues.
