Indonesian Embassy in Baku celebrates Independence Day

The Indonesian Embassy in Baku held a flag-hoisting ceremony in commemoration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day at the Embassy of Indonesia in Baku on Saturday, August 17th, 2024.

According to Report, the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic Indonesia in Baku, Mrs. Merita Yenni, led the ceremony which was participated by the embassy’s staffs, Indonesian citizens in Azerbaijan, and friends of Indonesia in Azerbaijan.

Indonesia’s national anthem “Indonesia Raya” was sung by all Indonesians in attendance following the national flag-raising ceremony performed by Indonesian students in Azerbaijan. The ceremony was then continued with a moment of silence in remembrance of Indonesian heroes, the reading of the text of the proclamation of the independence of Indonesia and concluded by a prayer for the welfare and advancement of the nation and country.

The solemn ceremony was then followed by celebratory activities, such as cake-cutting and awards ceremony for winners of traditional Indonesian games held throughout July 2024 in the framework of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day. The games included are table tennis, dart, clog race, musical chairs, and other various activities for both adults and kids.

The 79th Indonesian Independence Day festivities in Baku concluded with a social gathering featuring Indonesian cuisines, national attire, and a lively atmosphere.

The event reflected the spirit of the "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia", the theme for Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day which emphasised the government's vision for developing the new capital city while promoting sustainable development and equality across the nation.
