Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of Sudan to Azerbaijan, Anas Eltayeb Elgaylani Mustafa, on Wednesday, Report informs, citing the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The minister congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his diplomatic activities in our country.
Then, the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, including the current situation in the region and security issues, was discussed.
The parties noted the importance of political dialogue in the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Sudan, as well as cooperation within multilateral platforms. The importance of the consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries, the working group on economic cooperation, as well as mutual visits, was emphasized. Sudan's support for Azerbaijan's positions and initiatives within international organizations, in particular the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement, was noted with satisfaction. Azerbaijan expressed gratitude for the allocation of scholarships to Sudanese students.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in turn, informed the ambassador in detail about the 30-year occupation of Armenia, as well as the peace process and reconstruction measures in the post-conflict period.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
