Hikmat Hajiyev: Azerbaijan's green transformation hampered by 30-year Armenian occupation

Azerbaijan would have achieved greater success in green transformation activities today if it weren't for Armenia's actions during the 30 years of occupation, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, told Azerbaijan Television on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

Emphasizing that Armenia's occupation policy created obstacles to Azerbaijan's green transformation policy and diverted the country's resources and targets in another direction, the presidential aide noted:

"After the liberation of our lands from occupation, the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur zones were restored as zero-waste zones following President Ilham Aliyev's instruction. Thus, Azerbaijan gained the opportunity to allocate more resources to its green transformation and renewable energy resources development policy. This has always been a priority on our agenda. However, after eliminating the fact of occupation and aggression, Azerbaijan gained the opportunity to mobilize its greater capabilities in this segment."
