Islam is a religion of unity, love, respect and equality, not terrorism, as is often mistakenly perceived in some Western societies, chairman of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa, said in Baku at an international scientific conference on "Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas," according to Report.
"Unfortunately, some states and certain groups in the world continue to spread a false narrative, presenting Islam as a religion of violence, weapons and terrorism. However, as we all know, this is far from the truth. The essence of Islam is to preach love, the pursuit of knowledge, equality and respect for every person, regardless of their origin and views. We teach tolerance, kindness and peaceful coexistence," he noted.
Despite the challenges faced by one of the most ancient and widespread religions, Islam continues to unite millions of people around the world, "bringing with it the light of spirituality, justice and harmony," he said.
