Gusman: Attack on Azerbaijani embassy in Iran can neither be explained nor justified

"The crime committed against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran can neither be explained nor justified. Although some say that it was the crime of a terrorist, I think it requires a thorough investigation, Mikhail Gusman, the First Deputy Director-General of the TASS Information Agency, told Report's Moscow bureau.

He stressed the importance of a thorough investigation of this crime by the Iranian authorities.

"What was the reason for this incident? Is anyone behind the criminal? Did he have an accomplice? Who gave him the gun? I don't think Kalashnikov assault rifles are sold in stores in Tehran. All this raises big questions. If we imagine the anti-Azerbaijani hysteria that has been going on for a long time in the Iranian media, we can say that all this is very sad," Gusman emphasized.

According to him, terrorism has no nationality, and it should be given a harsh response: "As the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, said, there is no place for terrorism in the modern world. In such a case, Azerbaijan is analyzing the situation correctly, and I believe it will demand appropriate explanations and decisions from Iran. I would like to add that the real hero who prevented a bigger disaster at the cost of his life, Orkhan Asgarov, the security chief, was killed. I offer my condolences to Orkhan Asgarov's family."
