Non-Muslims should also fight against Islamophobia based on principles of humanism, said Abdassamad el Yazidi, Chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD), Report informs.
Speaking on the second day of the international conference themed “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas” in Baku, Abdassamad el Yazidi said some people think that Islamophobia is only a problem for those living in non-Muslim countries:
"But this is a very broad concept. Islamophobia has led to bloodshed against the background of hatred and animosity. Unfortunately, this is accepted as normal at the international level. Some even stand up and applaud it. This once again shows that hatred against Islam has been normalized at the international level. International organizations are taking certain steps to prevent this. But it's not enough."
The official expressed his objection to the normalization of Islamophobia and gave several examples:
"In recent days, a Muslim person was stabbed 50 times while praying in a mosque in Germany. Religious communities did not give the necessary reaction to this. When this happens, these incidents become normalized and create fertile ground for the development of Islamophobia. This should not be the case. Not only Muslims, but also non-Muslims should raise their voices against this."
