Garibashvili: Azerbaijan is Georgia's most important strategic partner

Azerbaijan is the most important strategic partner of Georgia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said during a press statement following a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Tbilisi, Report informs via Sputnik-Georgia.

"Georgia is one of the most important countries and friends for Azerbaijan. And Azerbaijan is Georgia's most important strategic partner," Garibashvili said.

The Georgian prime minister noted that he discussed joint trade, transport and energy projects with the President of Azerbaijan.

The parties also discussed already implemented strategic projects, which, according to Garibashvili, can be called historic. Among them are the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the Southern Gas Corridor projects.

The leaders also discussed the importance of the railway Middle Corridor.

"We, Mr. President, reaffirm our full readiness to intensify relations to the maximum to implement both current and planned projects," Garibashvili said.
