Fuad Huseynaliyev: Azerbaijan and Armenia are able to solve many more issues through negotiations

Azerbaijan and Armenia are able to solve many more issues through negotiations without any mediator, Director of Report Information Agency, Fuad Huseynaliyev, told CBC TV Channel while commenting on the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the return of four villages of the Gazakh district.

“It is a very important fact that Azerbaijan and Armenia reached an agreement without a mediator. This means that when the representatives of the two countries sit around the table without a third party, they achieve more," he said, adding that Azerbaijan had been offering this format to Armenia for a long time.

According to him, it is much easier to negotiate directly with Armenia and reach a peace agreement: “The rhetoric of Yerevan regarding the peace process has changed in 3 years. There was stagnation in the peace process for a certain period of time... But now they (Armenia - ed.) must understand that the next stage of the peace process should be the signing of a peace agreement, delimitation, and demarcation, and opening of communications.".

“We have seen how Pashinyan's rhetoric has changed from time to time. His last statement—it is not necessary to accept the neighborhood with Azerbaijan with alarm—forms the opinion that Armenia will move away from the idea of the past—viewing Azerbaijan as an enemy—and will show friendly neighborly relations,” Huseynaliyev said.
