France ignores opinions of people in its colonized territories

France disregards the opinions of people in the territories it has colonized, said Mohamed Monjoin, a member of the Democratic Front in the Comoros Union, Report informs.

Monjoin made this statement during a conference titled "Illegal French Occupation of Mayotte Island of Comoros Union" organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).

He reminded the audience that the UN General Assembly has adopted resolutions regarding France's occupation of Mayotte.

"Since 1976, Mayotte has become a topic of discussion at the plenary sessions of the UN General Assembly because France's colonial policy is contrary to international law. France has demonstrated its power against a small country," Monjoin said.

Expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan's support, Monjoin stated, "Azerbaijan recently expressed that Mayotte belongs to the Comoros. We are grateful for this support."
