Former French MP: Senate resolution over Azerbaijan is disgrace

The resolution adopted by the French Senate over Azerbaijan is a disgrace, Jerome Lambert, the President of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan (AFA) and a former member of the French Senate, wrote in a letter addressed to the Senate, Report informs, citing the Novosti Armenia.

According to him, on November 15, the Senate accepted a proposal for a resolution on the imposition of sanctions against Azerbaijan based on Article 34-1 of the Constitution: "French senators should know that, according to international law, it is Armenia that has occupied part of Azerbaijan's territory since 1992. To miss this point is a disgrace for the French Senate, which further disqualifies itself in the search for peace."

"Peace can only be the result of understanding the truth," he said.

"Senators' voting may overshadow this perspective, but fortunately this vote will also show the hollowness of their vision of reality. Negotiations are underway and we must value them. On the other hand, we must reject the vengeful speeches of some Armenian extremists. They undoubtedly supported the terrorist organization ASALA, which is responsible for a number of terrorist acts in France that caused victims in our lands. Probably, the absent-minded senators have forgotten this. We will not find the way to peace in forgetfulness and lies. This resolution will not go down in history," the former deputy stressed in his letter.
