Foreign Ministry: As a country suffering from landmines, Azerbaijan maintains dialogue with NATO and other organizations

As a country suffering from the landmines, Azerbaijan has continued its efforts to raise awareness internationally about large-scale humanitarian demining to eliminate the landmine threat and to attract international assistance to humanitarian demining, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry said in a press release published on the outcomes of 2024, according to Report.

"Consequently, Azerbaijan has demonstrated diplomatic activity in both bilateral and multilateral formats, maintaining dialogue with international organizations, including the UN, UNESCO, the European Union, NATO, and several other countries, to explore ways of cooperating to eliminate the landmine threat in our country," it said.

The press release notes that the annual international conference on humanitarian demining has become an important dialogue platform in this area.

"On 30-31 May, co-organized by Azerbaijan and the UN, the 3rd International Conference on 'Mitigating Environmental Impact of Landmines: Resource Mobilization for a Safe and Green Future' was held in the cities of Zangilan and Baku," the document notes.
