The relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia are based on the principle of respect for the sovereignty of the states and recognition of their international borders, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said, speaking at a news conference following the meeting with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic.
"We believe that our cooperation will further develop in this direction," Bayramov said.
The ministers noted that at their meeting, they discussed issues of bilateral agenda and cooperation within international organizations, issues of regional security, and economic cooperation.
Serbia's role within the Non-Aligned Movement was especially noted. Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the first session of the organization took place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. For this reason, the high-level session of the Non-Aligned Movement, which is planned for October 2021, will be organized jointly by the Serbian and Azerbaijani sides.
On his part, the Serbian Foreign Minister appreciated the support of Azerbaijan, as the current chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, for Serbia's initiative on the joint celebration of the 60th anniversary of the first Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade in October of this year.
