FM: It will be difficult for Georgia to join "3 + 3" format

It will be difficult for Georgia to participate in the "3 + 3" format together with Russia, but nevertheless, the country must be represented in this or other form in major geopolitical projects, Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani said on Channel One's Topic of the Day program, Report informs.

"We must participate in all the new projects, even infrastructural ones. Otherwise, they may bypass Georgia, and the country may lose its role and function. Therefore, it is imperative to have a clear position so that the interests of our country are not harmed," he added.

Zalkaliani noted that Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity are a red line: "Our representation in major geopolitical projects and relations, of course, should not be be implemented at the cost of state interests or through any concessions."

"Thanks to the initiative and mediation of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Georgia was able to take the first steps in terms of regional cooperation through active communication with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We will keep building active contacts not only with our neighbors in the South Caucasus but also with our European and American partners," Zalkaliani said.
